In recent years genetic testing has shown enough diversity to separate Beaded lizards into 4 species instead of subspecies of horridum

Gila Monsters

On the other hand, Gila monsters were considered two Species Heloderma suspectum and Heloderma cinctum.

Genetic testing has shown gila monsters are all 1 species

Heloderma suspectum.
